Old-school 1-0 Chelsea win under Mourinho to make a return at Hull
Petr Cech already holds the record for needing the fewest number of games to rack up 100 Premier League clean sheets and he will reach an even bigger milestone if managing to keep Hull out at the KC Stadium.
A Chelsea clean sheet at Hull is priced at 1/1 and should Cech not concede, he will surpass Peter Bonetti in the club’s history books.
The pair are currently joined at 208 Chelsea clean sheets and the chances of Cech being the sole owner after the Hull showdown has strong claims.
After all, only Arsenal can better Chelsea’s defensive record of conceding just 19 Premier League goals this season and the Blues are on a run of four clean sheets in their last five outings.
Chelsea are certainly singing more in tune with the Jose Mourinho hymn sheet of old in recent weeks and the fact that Hull are hardly the most generous of sides on their own patch, indicate this could be low scoring.
No Premier League team have let in fewer goals in front of their own fans than Hull’s six and the Tigers are yet to score in any meeting with the division’s top three this season.
Under 2.5 goals is available at 8/11, but in the hope of boosting profits, it may pay to attempt to predict the correct score.
In two of his three previous seasons in charge at Chelsea, Mourinho won exactly five of his Premier League road trips 1-0. Chelsea have only won once by this scoreline this season and that was at Stamford Bridge against Swansea.
It may be the shortest price among all of the correct scorelines in the betting, but a 1-0 Chelsea victory does stand out as a likely outcome at 5/1. Alternatively, it is 29/20 that the Blues triumph in a game in which they don’t concede.
Only Manchester United have netted more than once as an away side in Hull’s 10 games at home this season too.
As for which player may be responsible for this goal, this could also be a landmark fixture for Fernando Torres, as well as Cech.
If Torres features, it will represent his 200th Premier League appearance and he is 4/1 to bag the opener, with 1/1 on offer that he is on target at any time in the 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, the first goal scorecast market provides odds of 14/1 that Torres is the scorer in a 1-0 Chelsea victory.
In terms of the simpler match betting, Chelsea’s odds are 8/13 to beat Hull, with the hosts 9/2 to collect what would be just a second victory in their last eight games.
There may be some mileage in the draw here and that can be backed at 14/5.
