Played for both: Five Premier League names at Spurs and Arsenal

Jamie Clark, Sports Editor | November 5, 2015

With another north London derby approaching, Coral take a look at five players who have played for both Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League era, with Spurs 15/4 with Coral to win on their visit to the Emirates.

To find out which players we have come up with, read on and see if you remember them all!

Rohan Ricketts

Arsenal youth product Ricketts played in a 4-0 League Cup win over Manchester United for Arsene Wenger before jumping ship to Spurs in 2002. Starting his career as a winger, he also operated in a central attacking midfield role.

Ricketts went on to become something of a journeyman with spells at Coventry City, Wolves, QPR, Barnsley, Shamrock Rovers in Ireland and Exeter City. He has also played for clubs in the MLS, Hungary, Moldova, Germany, India, Ecuador, Thailand and Hong Kong.

William Gallas

Versatile former France defender Gallas is perhaps best known for his five-year spell with Chelsea (2001-06), but went on to spend four seasons at the Emirates (2006-10) and three at Tottenham (2010-13).

A Premier League winner at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho, Gallas went on to score in the memorable 4-4 north London derby for Arsenal at home in 2008.

Sol Campbell

Ex-England centre back Campbell is a veteran of many derby days. After nine years as a pro at Spurs (1992-2001) and over a decade on their books, his contract was up and he made a free transfer to Arsenal, causing huge controversy.

It proved a fruitful switch for him as he won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners to go with his League Cup triumph at Tottenham.

David Bentley

Winger Bentley fell out of love with football subsequently, but started at Arsenal and there development a penchant for spectacular goals.

This came back to haunt Wenger as Bentley scored the pick of the bunch when he grabbed the opener in that famous 4-4 we alluded to earlier in Spurs colours. Check out the video below for highlights:

Emmanuel Adebayor

Togo frontman Adebayor is one of only two players in history to have scored in derbies for both north London clubs. As Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is believed to have blocked a loan switch to West Ham, the ex-Gunner (2006-09) could be involved against his former club.

He is now a free agent having been released by Spurs, though he has shown on multiple occasions that on his day he is a natural goal-scorer and at 31, still has at least a couple of years left at the highest level.
