Five potential replacements for Raheem Sterling at Anfield
With Raheem Sterling the subject of much attention from top clubs Real Madrid and PSG, and even more from the media, Coral writers have come up with a number of players who could be drafted in to replace him, should he leave, with his club currently 33/1 chances to win the Premier League title with Coral.
Known as ‘the Alpine Messi’, he was linked to the Reds in the summer, however Bayern Munich were reluctant to sell. Much will depend on whether manager Pep Guardiola sees the 22-year-old as part of his plans for next season, before making a decision regarding his future and whether he has identified other potential targets.
The talented German is stalling on a new contract at Borussia Dortmund, though he is only likely to be tempted by a top club that at the very least can offer Champions League football. If Reus sees the Reds as a natural step up, and is convinced by Brendan Rodgers’ strategy, a move may materialise.
Currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach from Chelsea, the two clubs have forged a good relationship in transfer dealings, with Rodgers once part of the Blues scouting department. He is currently developing well, and showing signs that he could be as good as older brother Eden. There is every reason to suggest that a deal could be hammered out, should Chelsea decide to cash in for a profit.
The Athletic Bilbao winger has always showed signs that he is capable of stepping up to the next level, but to reach his potential needs to move to a big club. Just 21, he has been dubbed ‘the Spanish Messi’, and Liverpool would be getting a serious talent should they decide to make a move.
Bought in the summer for the best part of £20m, the Serbian winger would relish the opportunity to ghost into Sterling’s shoes. He has demonstrated that he does have potential, and is similar to ex-Reds legend Patrick Berger in both looks and style.
