Borussia Dortmund anchorman Weigl, 21, is in-demand and City boss Pep Guardiola is understood to be a fan. He’s set to go head-to-head with former club Barcelona to land the 21-year-old if not this winter, then come the summer.

Things are far from certain over the transfer policy at the Nou Camp, because head coach Luis Enrique is out of contract at the end of the season and is refusing to discuss his future until then.

Such cause for concern in Catalonia could work to Guardiola and Man City’s advantage in any potential pursuit of Weigl, capped four times for Germany.

Top teams chase N’Zonzi?

Yesterday, we brought you news that Premier League leaders Chelsea have bid for Atalanta and Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie, and that he too was linked with City.

Premier League experience is a valuable asset for potential signings, so that's why top teams chase N'Zonzi.

It seems he’s not the only target these elite boys in blue could battle for, however, as ex-Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City holding player N’Zonzi is reportedly being monitored by both.

Reports from Spain, where the 28-year-old is currently plying with his trade with Sevilla, claim N’Zonzi is of interest to Stamford Bridge and Etihad scouts.

His English top-flight experience, amounting to almost 200 games across six seasons (2009-15), makes him an attractive option as top teams chase N’Zonzi.

Other rumoured Chelsea targets including apparent long-standing interest in Roma’s Belgium international bruiser Radja Nainggolan and Chile counterpart Arturo Vidal, a player who signed for Bayern Munich during Guardiola’s spell in charge at the Allianz Arena.
