Alex Grimaldo to Man City?

The British press say Alex Grimaldo to Man City may be in the offing.

We previously bought you reports claiming Manchester United’s interest in Spanish left back Grimaldo, 21, but now it is their city rivals linked with his services.

Etihad outfit manager Pep Guardiola is keen on adding the Benfica defender to his squad, but it remains to be seen if a rumoured reduced asking price of £38.5m will result in a tabled bid.

Man City’s current options Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov are both 31, and younger, more energetic legs may be needed to freshen things up down this side of defence.

Grimaldo is familiar to Guardiola as he was Barcelona manager when the player joined and came through their youth set-up from 2008-12.

The full back played for the Catalan giants’ B team until last winter when he moved across Iberia to Lisbon, where he helped Benfica to a Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal double last term.

Marco Reus linked with Arsenal?

What's behind Marco Reus linked with Arsenal is the uncertainty of Alexis Sanchez's future.

What’s behind Marco Reus linked with Arsenal is the uncertainty of Alexis Sanchez’s future.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, is thought to hold increasing worries over the future of Chile attacker Alexis Sanchez, so the Emirates board are lining up a replacement.

Dortmund flank threat Reus, 27, is the man linked with stepping into Sanchez’s shoes if a new contract cannot be thrashed out by Arsenal.

Although injury-prone, Reus’ Germany national teammates past and present Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil play for the Gunners, so could help sway him to sign for the north London club.

Capped 29 times by Die Mannschaft, netting nine goals, Reus remains one of European football’s hottest properties, though would need to adapt to Premier League life better than erstwhile Westfalenstadion teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan to prove value for money.

Reportedly rated at around £30m, Reus is known to be a player admired by Wenger, but the boss’ own long-term future like that of Sanchez still remains unresolved.
