Coral’s rumour reel
There are plenty of meaty Premier League rumours to entertain punters this fine Sunday, with a focus on whispers in the Northwest. West Ham United maestro Dimitri Payet to Man Utd is doing the rounds and Manchester City are eyeing a new centre back, while the Red Devils’ bitter rivals Liverpool are said to be staving off interest in two of their top stars.
As the winter transfer window edges closer to opening, the gossip is going into overdrive. So, read on with Coral’s rumour reel for November 27th to find out all the latest potential comings and goings…
Payet to Man Utd?
Just in time for Manchester United’s teatime PL kick-off against West Ham on Sunday, the papers are pushing a story about France international Payet being a target for Jose Mourinho.
It would take a mooted £35m for the Red Devils to land the 29-year-old, who has been helping to drag the Hammers through a poor season. It is thought that the Irons will rebuff any advances in January, though summer could be a different question.
United already boast a quality contingent of Frenchmen including Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba but, if Mourinho is seeking to add raw pace to his Old Trafford attacking midfield ranks as the tabloids tip, potent Payet would surely not add much more than current options such as Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Yannick Carrasco of Belgium and Atletico Madrid, 23, is instead also being touted as a more long-term target to bring exuberance to attacking and wide positions instead.
Man City want Van Dijk?
Meanwhile, across in the Sky Blues’ half of Manchester, Pep Guardiola is believed to be ready to spend on a new centre half after captain Vincent Kompany’s latest injury set-back.
It is rumoured that Man City want Virgil van Dijk to take over the mantle of dominating defender, after the Dutchman’s dedicated and stout defensive performances for Southampton this season.
The 25-year-old would not come cheap from unfortunate selling club Saints but the prospect of Van Dijk partnering John Stones would promise a much more robust rearguard.
Liverpool seeking to cling on to Lallana
Finally, over in Liverpool, the football transfer headlines don’t make pretty reading for Reds fans this morning.
As Bayern Munich trail RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, rumour has it that the Bavarian big boys are pondering replacing Carlo Ancelotti with former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who is of course currently installed on Merseyside.
While, there are also covetous eyes said to be watching adaptable England and Liverpool attacker Adam Lallana, with PSG apparently poised to bid £40m to land the Anfield star.
