Rumour Reel: Kondogbia to Liverpool, while Hector hunted by Spurs and Darmian to Barca
Robbie Purves | 13 October 2016
Jurgen Klopp seems to be wasting no time in preparing for the winter transfer window, with Geoffrey Kondogbia to Liverpool linked in today’s back pages.
The Liverpool boss reportedly sees the Inter Milan man as a perfect partner for Reds captain Jordan Henderson in the centre of the park.
Kondogbia to Liverpool
Klopp’s Anfield outfit are reportedly in for Nerazzurri midfielder Kondogbia. The Inter man has found it difficult in Milan and has seen his relationship with manager Frank de Boer deteriorate – according to reports.
De Boer hauled the Frenchman off after less than 30 minutes against Bologna last month and publicly criticised his performances afterwards.
Kondogbia has made only four league appearances this term and has rapidly slipped down the pecking order at Inter, with Ever Banega and Gary Medel ahead of him.
The ex Seville player moved to the San Siro for an eye catching fee of £26m from Monaco, but is yet to make a real impact on the Serie A.
Klopp is reportedly convinced he can improve the 23-year-old France midfielder and has sanctioned a January attempt to sign the powerful midfielder.
Hector hunted by Spurs
Tottenham are reportedly set to rival Liverpool for Cologne star left back Jonas Hector.
The 26-year-old has amassed 24 Germany caps since 2014 and scored in a friendly earlier this year.
Spurs are likely to make a bid of around £30m to land the classy Bundesliga talent, if they hope to halt Liverpool and Inter Milan’s advances.
Hector can also play as a defensive midfielder and possesses the sort of David Alaba versatility that makes him so valuable.
He was also a leading light for Germany at Euro 2016, at which they reached the semi-finals.
Darmian offered Barca exit
Barcelona have reportedly offered out of favour Manchester United right back Matteo Darmian a way out of Old Trafford.
La Liga’s reigning champions look set to offload Aleix Vidal this season and see Darmian as a worthy replacement. The Catalan giants are now playing former midfielder Sergi Roberto as first choice right back.
Darmian was recently linked to Inter Milan and Juventus in a return to Italy.
