Selfish Suarez 7/4 for Golden Boot award after Saturday brace

Luis Suarez is one of the most gifted strikers to play in the Premier League and the Uruaguayan is now the red-hot favourite to win the Golden Boot at 7/4.

Suarez scored two in the 4-0 mauling of a woeful Fulham and he really is making Anfield a terribly tough venue for away teams once again.

The Reds are unbeaten at home since Suarez returned from his ban and he has scored six of their 11 home goals in that period.

Bet on Suarez to win Golden Boot at 7/4

Although he’s not yet leading the goalscorer charts outright, with Liverpool a much more slick and professional team these days, it’s only a manner of time.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have the creative flair of Coutinho again now he is back from injury, and with Jordan Henderson and Victor Moses ably supporting the front pairing of Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, chances are no longer at a premium.

The 7/4 about Suarez could probably be summed up as the price for him to get banned.

The FA don’t take kindly to racism and biting and Suarez has found himself on the sidelines for 18 matches (not including bans for red cards) through his own unpredictable and volatile behaviour.

Liverpool’s number nine appears to have addressed his issues but the old adage that a ‘leopard never changes its spots’ is still a worry for punters.

Bet on Aguero to win Golden Boot at 9/2

The other men on eight goals are his strike partner Sturridge and Man City talisman Sergio Aguero.

There is no doubt that the Liverpool man is a fearsome opponent for defenders but he isn’t as clinical as Suarez and Aguero rates a bigger threat.

Man City scored 93 goals when they won the league and although they struggled last season, with just 66 to their name, their wealth of midfield talent should ensure that the chances continue to flow.

However the biggest danger is still likely to come from the man who has won the Golden Boot for the last two seasons: Robin Van Persie.

Bet on Van Persie to win Golden Boot at 5/1

The Dutchman pipped Suarez last season and already has six to his name this time around, despite Man Utd’s stuttering start to the season and his own (relatively) modest form.

He is 5/1 to top the charts.

The man with 32 goals in 43 appearance for the Red Devils has been placed or better in the last three seasons in this market and, with his major injury worries a thing of the past, he looks the proverbial ‘each-way bet to nothing’ with four places paid.
