Shaky Spurs no match for Rodgers’ rampant Reds at Anfield
Liverpool have scored 26 times in their last seven Premier League matches, at a rate of 3.7 per game, and Coral give them a fantastic price of 17/5 to net over 3.5 total goals against Tottenham at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers’ Reds have won an incredible seven on the bounce in the league and, after their 5-0 mauling of Spurs in the reverse fixture (40/1 to repeat that feat again), it is no surprise that they are odds-on for victory again.
With just one win in their last four in all competitions, it seems Tim Sherwood’s side have given up on their hopes of a Champions League place (10/1 for a top four finish). They sit two places and seven points behind north London rivals Arsenal – who are in fourth.
The Reds happen to have the league’s top two scorers this season on their books in Luis Suarez (28) and Daniel Sturridge (20), with the latter getting 11 in his past 11 at Anfield. They are both priced odds-on at 10/11 in the anytime to net market, and 4/1 to bag a brace or more.
Club captain and penalty taker Steven Gerrard has scored 10 times from set pieces this season so far – more than any other in the league – and has odds of 2/1 to get a goal anytime again.
Back Liverpool to score once before half time at 29/20 or twice or more at 13/5, as they have managed to net in the opening period in their last 21 Premier League matches – an all-time record.
Although Spurs have not beaten the Reds in their last two attempts, they can take confidence from the fact that the previous seven in 10 in all competitions were victories. Coral’s price of 6/1 say they can muster up a surprise and dent Liverpool’s title chances.
Rodgers’ side, however, have now remarkably got to within a point of Premier League leaders Chelsea – with seven matches to go – and have tasty odds of 3/1 to finally end their baron spell of 24 years with a top-flight trophy.
