Sunderland host Swans, Stoke visit Norwich & West Ham welcome B’mouth
Coral preview the games of a number of teams already flirting with relegation in the Premier League after just two matches. Without further ado, we’ll crack on and give you an insight of the best bets for each match!
Sunderland v Swansea
A stark contrast of two teams who couldn’t have started the season any differently. The Black Cats have lost two on the spin and are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League. Garry Monk’s men, though collected a well-earned point at Stamford Bridge, before beating Newcastle 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium last time out.
The South Wales side are 11/10 favourites for the match and in new boy Andre Ayew, they have unearthed a top talent. Having joined from Marseille in the summer, he has hit the ground running, netting in consecutive matches and odds of 5/4 to net anytime could be worth considering, while after opening the scoring against the Magpies, he is 5/1 to do the same.
Against a Sunderland side who are leaking goals, look no further than Bafetimbi Gomis to terrorise the hosts’ rearguard, who have looked like cats caught in headlights so far this term. He has also dispatched in successive matches and looks the real deal.
If he is really in the mood, he could clean up on Wearside, and is 7/1 to score two or more. For Dick Adovaat’s side, Jermain Defoe scored the only goal for the Black Cats in these two fixtures last season, which yielded two points and the striker is available at 6/4 in the anytime market.
To keep a second successive clean sheet though, having kept out Newcastle, Swansea could be worth a punt at 7/5 especially with a defence which has performed well so far.
Norwich City v Stoke City
One thing we can pretty much guarantee here at Coral, is that there will be goals in this match. New signing Xherdan Shaqiri could make his debut and the Swiss star could be worth taking a chance on at 2/1 to dispatch anytime with the Potters
Norwich were resurgent against Sunderland last time out as they blitzed their way to a 3-1 victory, with goals from Steven Whittaker, Russell Martin and Nathan Redmond. The latter, who is the most likely to score, is 11/4 in the anytime market.
The hosts fought their way back from 2-0 down at White Hart Lane last time out, Mark Hughes’ side rescued a point against Spurs. Marko Arnautovic and Mame Biram Diouf netted and are 2/1 and 15/8 respectively to dispatch once more.
Last time Norwich played host to Stoke, the points were split, though when the Canaries visited the Britannia, they came away singing as Jonny Howson dispatched the only goal in a 1-0 win and is 11/2 to score again anytime.
West Ham United v Bournemouth
It is perhaps unfair to brand Eddie Howe’s side as early relegation contenders, despite the Cherries losing both their Premier League matches this season. The young Englishman has a right to be confident after promising performances so far and, arguably they had Liverpool on the ropes at Anfield last time out in a narrow 1-0 defeat.
New Hammers boss Slaven Bilic, though, will want a response after succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to a slick Leicester City outfit last time out. A draw could be the likeliest result, which is on offer at 12/5 though this doesn’t necessarily point to a stalemate.
The south coast side definitely have goals in them and striker Callum Wilson has looked lively so far. He is 2/1 to score anytime, while Matt Richie who also flourished against the Reds is 5/1 in the same market.
Dimitri Payet, who signed for the east London side in the summer, looks a class act and got on the scoresheet last time out for Bilic’s boys. The talented Frenchman is 7/4 anytime, while Cheikhou Kouyate, who dispatched in the 2-0 win over Arsenal is 5/1 with striker Diafra Sakho available at 5/1 to break the deadlock.
Coral’s top tip: Gomis to score two or more @ 7/1
