Tottenham to bid for Ben Foster if Hugo Lloris leaves for PSG

Rank 50/1 outsiders for a top-four finish Tottenham are making contingency plans, should they lose first-choice goalie Hugo Lloris this summer.

Tabloid reports claim Spurs shall swoop for West Bromwich Albion number one Ben Foster if Ligue 1 leaders PSG firm up their interest in France captain Lloris.

Despite sharing six goals at The Hawthorns, Foster shone, making a superb double stop and saving Emmanuel Adebayor’s penalty when the hosts were 2-0 up.

Tim Sherwood looks set to lose his job as Tottenham head coach at the end of the season, because the north London outfit are almost certain to miss out on a Champions League place now.

Spurs are six points off the top four, having played a game more than both neighbours Arsenal (8/11) and Everton (11/10).

The Baggies, meanwhile, are three points clear of the relegation zone under Pepe Mel, and have a match in hand on four of the teams around them – against basement club Sunderland.

Albion are 13/2 for the drop, but odds-on to stay up with Coral at 1/14. If they go down, it would put Tottenham in a strong position to land Foster.

Lloris has been targeted by PSG because their boss Laurent Blanc is reportedly unconvinced by current first-choice stopper Salvatore Sirigu at the Parc des Princes.

England and Manchester City number one Joe Hart is also rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar, should Manuel Pellegrini swoop for a new goalie over the summer.

The Chilean coach dropped Hart because of poor form last autumn, and has been linked with Spanish keepers Iker Casillas and Victor Valdes, who is out of contract at Barcelona.

Foster has kept just three Premier League clean sheets during an injury-hit campaign with West Brom, but is set to be at the World Cup in Brazil as backup to Hart. He is odds-on at 2/5 to be on Roy Hodgson’s 23-man roster for the finals.
