Tottenham target Turkish Super Lig striker Emmanuel Emenike

Tottenham Hotspur (7/2 with Coral to finish in the top four) are reportedly lining up a move for Fenerbahce frontman Emmanuel Emenike, with manager Mauricio Pochettino keen to bolster his attacking options.

The Nigeria international has a reported release clause of £15.7m and his representative Erdem Konyar has recently stated that the Londoners are interested in the 27-year-old.

“Tottenham have really only one striker right now so it is not a surprise that they are interested. I personally have not entered talks with Tottenham yet,” Konyar said. “However, if Fenerbahce give permission, we can enter negotiations.”

With current strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado massively misfiring this season, Super Lig’s Emenike would provide further prowess in attack for Spurs as they target a Champions League spot for 2015/16.

Energetic Emenike has helped Fenerbahce to the Super Lig summit depsite being in and out of the XI, netting twice in 13 league appearances this campaign, including an opening goal against bitter rivals Besiktas in a 2-0 away victory.

Fellow African star Adebayor and Spaniard Soldado have had extremely poor campaigns for the Londoners, meanwhile, with both forwards registering just six goals between them in all competitions.

However, the incredible emergence of Harry Kane has helped Pochettino’s men to climb to within touching distance of the final Champions League place. In-form Kane has netted 16 times this term, and the English centre-forward could benefit from a strong strike partner going into the final few months of the domestic league season.

Spurs would benefit instantly from Emenike’s attacking attributes, with Nigeria failing to qualify for this month’s upcoming African Cup of Nations. in Equatorial Guinea

With four weeks left of the January transfer window, Pochettino could swoop for Fenerbahce’s fierce forward in an aim to push for European places. Spurs are available at 16/1 to triumph in this season’s Europa League.
