Transfer Deadline Day preview: Three teams to watch

With one day of the summer transfer window remaining, it is Manchester United that are being tipped to be the busiest club, as suitors circle a host of their players, and Louis van Gaal tracks a midfielder.

Coral will bring you all the latest news as it happens, though first provide customers with an insight of which clubs and players are going to be the subject of attention.

Manchester United

Already touched upon, however the club is likely to be as busy than the nearby Trafford shopping centre, with comings and goings, not to mention a number of global media outlets. As things stand, a deal has been agreed to sign versatile Dutchman Daley Blind; a price thought to be in the region of £14m. A central midfielder has been deemed as a priority signing by Van Gaal. There have been continuous links to Chilean box-to-box man Arturo Vidal all summer, despite injury concerns. Coral understand that terms have been agreed with the player and United officials, though as yet a deal between both clubs is yet to be brokered successfully.

However, it has come to light that Van Gaal could turn to compatriot Nigel de Jong which could affect whether Vidal decides to join should a fee be agreed. AC Milan’s willingness to sell all rests on whether they are given permission to speak to Chelsea youngster Marco van Ginkel.

Tom Cleverley is thought to be interesting Aston Villa, Everton and Valencia for a price of around £7m, while Danny Welbeck is also available with Tottenham showing interest. The pair could be joined by as many as five more players leaving Old Trafford with Anderson surplus to requirements, Shinji Kagawa on the verge of moving back to Borussia Dortmund, and Javier Hernandez being tracked by a host of top European clubs including Real Madrid.

Arsenal

Sources close to the football club, indicate that Arsene Wenger wants one more player – a central midfielder before the transfer window closes. William Carvalho and Morgan Schneiderlin are the two on the Gunners’ radar, however the latter looks unlikely. This leaves the Portuguese international, and the price will be the sticking point, with Arsenal already having a £20m rejected. Whether Wenger decides to move for a striker, may depend on what happens in their game against Leicester, though realistically there will only be one incoming on deadline day. Whether anyone leaves albeit on loan, depends whether any bids are made, with Japanese talent Ryo Miayichi a possible target for a number of clubs.

Chelsea

Following Fernando Torres joining AC Milan on loan, Jose Mourinho is likely to bring in a replacement, with QPR’s Loic Remy high on his list. However, they have also been linked with Italian striker Mattia Destro. The 23-year-old has worked with Mourinho when the Portuguese managed Inter Milan, though struggled to break into the first team. Since moving to Roma, he has caught the attention with some standout performances, and ironically was an unused substitute for the club’s first match of the season against Fiorentina.
