Transfer latest: Wisdom, Ulloa make moves, Saints to sell Osvaldo

West Bromwich Albion, 5/2 to be relegated from the Premier League, have landed Liverpool and England Under-21 defender Andre Wisdom on a season-long loan.

The Anfield academy graduate, 21, spent last season at Championship play-off runner-ups Derby County where impressed under ex-England coach Steve McClaren. Wisdom played at right back in the East Midlands, and expect to do the same at The Hawthorns.

Baggies boss Alan Irvine adds another versatile option to his squad following the capture of Northern Ireland utility man Chris Baird on a free transfer. Wisdom can also play in central defence, but Albion already have a number of options for those berths.

In other news, Premier League newcomers Leicester City, 13/5 with Coral to make an immediate return to the Championship, have finalised their club record £8m swoop for Argentine attacker Leonardo Ulloa.

Brighton boss Sami Hyypia has already secured a replacement for him in Barnsley frontman Chris O’Grady on a three-year deal. Ulloa, meanwhile, has epenned a four-year contract at the King Power Stadium.

Foxes boss Nigel Pearson saw his new acquisition score twice against the Championship champions last term in a 4-1 Seagulls away win. Ulloa, 27, will compete at Leicester with Chris Wood, Jamie Vardy, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and David Nugent for a spot up front.

And finally, Southampton, 11/8 chances to repeat their top 10 finish from last season under new manager Ronaldo Koeman, have confirmed their intention to sell record buy Pablo Daniel Osvaldo.

The Argentine-born Italy international forward, 28, will be another high-profile departure from St Mary’s, following the exits of skipper Adam Lallana, striker Rickie Lambert and teenage left back Luke Shaw, but his future prospects of staying looked bleak.

Earlier this year, Osvaldo was involved in a training ground bust-up with Saints teammate Jose Fonte and was loaned out to Italian champions Juventus as a result. Inter Milan had been linked with making a similar move for him, but Southampton want to sell.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman confirmed this decision and also that Liverpool target Dejan Lovren wants to leave the south coast for Anfield. Any deal for the Croatia centre back will make him the third Southampton player signed by Brendan Rodgers’ Reds this summer after Lallana and Lambert.
