Can West Brom and Berahino beat Man City while they’re down?
West Bromwich Albion (8/1 with Coral to steal a surprise scalp) travel to the Etihad hoping to take advantage of Manchester City’s recent run of poor form.
Outclassed by Barcelona on the continent and six points behind Chelsea in the Premier League, City could now end the season empty handed.
So, while Tony Pulis’ team are 4/1 to split the spoils on their travels, after Burnley beat the Sky Blues last time out in the league, they must beware of the wounded lion.
City have much to prove, so the Baggies should prepare for a backlash. Unbeaten in their last nine tussles with the west Midlands outfit, the Citizens are available at 9/4 to win with both teams to score (maximum stake for this bet is £20), in a stupendous matchday special.
Having put three past West Brom in all of their past three duels, Manuel Pellegrini’s men are a strong shout at 6/5 to score as many, or more, again.
Several of City’s attacking superstars seem to enjoy grabbing goals against the Baggies. Midfield powerhouse Yaya Toure is the subject of much transfer speculation, but will be expected to come up with the goods at the Etihad yet again.
After striking three times in his past two appearances against West Brom, the Ivory Coast international is a generous 10/3 in the anytime market.
Meanwhile, Premier League joint-top scorer Sergio Aguero has clocked up four goals in five games against the visitors, and is 10/3 to strike first, or 7/2 to bag a brace or better.
With the likes of Wilfried Bony and Edin Dzeko, 4/1 and 9/2 to net last respectively, also waiting in the wings, the Sky Blues have too much firepower to be taken lightly after recent wobbles.
As for West Brom, their away form is a concern, as the Baggies have not triumphed on their travels in any competition since January.
Striking starlet Saido Berahino has been on target twice in his last four outings and, having been overlooked for an England call-up, will be eager to make Roy Hodgson regret his omission.
The Young Lion is 10/1 to take the initiative and breach the Sky Blues’ backline first, or 7/2 to get on the scoresheet anytime.
Strike partner Brown Ideye was the goal hero last time out to help the Baggies capture all three points against Stoke City, and is 4/1 in the same market.
