West Ham’s Andy Carroll slashed to 3/1 to join Conte’s Chelsea
England striker could add extra dimension
Coral traders have cut the odds on Andy Carroll joining Chelsea this month from 8/1 to 3/1 after taking a flurry of bets in the last 48 hours.
The West Ham United forward is 5/1 to move back to Newcastle and 20/1 to join up with Sam Allardyce at Everton.
It’s no secret that Antonio Conte needs a plan B when breaking down teams who sit deep against his side.
And the former Juventus boss has a history of employing a big target man up top when opposition teams try to stop them playing.
Conte attempted to sign his former Juve player Fernando Llorente before he moved to Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea also need a small injection of home-grown talent in the Blues squad.
“This is a transfer that not many people would have predicted before January. But judging by the number of bets we have taken in the last 24 hours and Chelsea’s need to sign more English players, it now looks like Andy Carroll is on Antonio Conte’s shopping list in this window,” said Coral’s John Hill.
