Rumour reel: Lewandowski to Premier League?

Chelsea target Bayern Munich goal scorer
So, we start our latest catch up on the transfer news and rumours with possibly one of the craziest stories of the summer – Lionel Messi saw his future in Manchester.
Reports in the Spanish press this week suggest Messi asked his club for a move to Man City last season, before being talked out of it by Luis Suarez. How much will City fans be hating the Uruguayan right now?
Let’s check on the latest to make headlines during ‘silly season’.
Chelsea in pole position to sign Lewandowski
Where Diego Costa will go and who Chelsea will replace him with has kept football fans guessing this pre-season, and we did think the blues striker would’ve found another club by now. Manager Antonio Conte has certainly made it clear he sees no future for him at the bridge. It will take a big name to pick up the slack, but the London club see Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as the ideal replacement. The 28-year-old Pole, who captains his country, would be a fabulous addition to the English Premier League, but he won’t come cheap.
Juve to raid United for Alves replacement
We told you earlier this week that Dani Alves is seeking a move to England, with his decision looking to be between Man City and Chelsea, the former thought to be favourite to win that race. The Italians have wasted no time in finding a replacement, and are ready to pounce on Man Utd defender Matteo Darmian. The 27-year-old Italian has been capped by Italy at every level from U17 to the senior squad, and would surely represent an improvement on Alves, who is at the tail-end of his career.
West Brom splashing the cash
West Brom have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve, and have set aside £100,000-a-week for defender Johnny Evans to remain at The Hawthorns. That would make the Northern Irishman the club’s highest paid player ever. Money seems to be no object at the club this summer either, and they are lining up a £12m bid for Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez. They’ll face a battle to get their man however, with newly promoted Newcastle seeing the 27-year-old as a solid addition to their ranks.
