Rumour reel: Man City’s Iheanacho to Leicester

Foxes ready to snap up a real talent
Jose Mourinho is moving in on long-term target Romelu Lukaku, with a £75m deal agreed between Manchester United and Everton. There’s now just the minor details to thrash out between club and player, but we don’t expect that to be a problem.
With the Belgian set to arrive at Old Trafford any day now, that should spell the end of speculation linking Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata with The Red Devils, a switch to Chelsea now looking the most likely outcome there. That’s just one of many stories currently doing the rounds, let’s pick up on a few more.
Iheanacho has found his match
Leicester City are ready to boost their attacking options, having struck a deal with Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho. The 20-year-old Nigerian’s future has been uncertain for most of the summer, but he now appears to have found a club for next season, with Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare spending £25m to get his man. Desperate for more time on the pitch, Iheanacho will certainly get that at Leicester, and in return his new employers are picking up a gifted young man who scored 21 goals in 64 games for The Citizens. We have no doubt there’s plenty of improving left in Kelechi, and this looks to be a perfect match.
Everton to spend £40m on Sigurdsson
Everton haven’t been shy in spending money so far, and they know there’s a big chunk of change coming their way off the back of the Lukaku deal. What’s even better for fans, bosses at Goodison Park are likely to reinvest it back into the playing staff. Leading scorer Romelu is off, but they won’t lose any sleep over that, and appear to have gotten themselves a good deal. Wayne Rooney is expected to fill the gap up front, probably on a free transfer too, and they’re also going to write a £40m cheque to Swansea for midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson. Leicester are interested in the same man, but Ronald Koeman is favourite to win that race.
Sanchez will stay at Arsenal – for a price
Alexis Sanchez told Arsenal he will stay at the club if they pay him £400,000 a week in wages. So, in other news, Alexis Sanchez is leaving Arsenal. Obviously this one is filed under gossip, the story doing the rounds in many tabloids, but we’d be surprised if there was much truth in it. They don’t call it silly season for nothing. Sanchez is already on a chunky salary, thought to be £275k a week, yes every week, so perhaps another £125,000 is just a tad greedy. What do we know? Man City want to bring him to the Etihad – they probably won’t pay that either – but Arsenal aren’t keen on flogging him to a rival Premier League side. More news when we get it.
