Serie A: Juventus to see off Viola, Napoli can halt Roma

Roman road to Naples a tricky trail

On the surface, Roma look to be hot on the heels of upcoming hosts Napoli in the Scudetto race, as they sit just three points behind the third placed Campania club in Serie A.

Yet, a glance at the Giallorossi’s recent record reveals real trouble for the Romans, who are on a dismal streak of five games across all competitions without a win.

This makes the Eternal City outfit unfancied at 17/4 for victory with Coral and, though they are more enticing at 11/4 for a third draw in a row, this fixture tends to reward the home team.

On the previous eight occasions these two have tussled in any competition, the hosting side have emerged triumphant. Added to Napoli’s excellent run at the San Paolo of nine successive wins and, with the Little Donkey’s still unbeaten before home fans this season, they are clear odds-on 4/6 match favourites.

Should you fancy something a little longer on the Naples club, a 15/8 price for a win to nil, after the southern Italian side kept seven clean sheets in their last 11, looks great value.

Giallorossi in need of goals

In fact, Napoli have shut out Roma on their past three visits to Campania, and were victorious in each. While, this clash comes at a time when the Giallorossi are struggling up top.

Following a potent purple patch, the goals appear to have dried up, with the Romans racking up just one in their past three. While, the Little Donkey’s bounced back from their Bologna blip with a 5-2 drubbing of Legia Warsaw.

The best scoring shout for Napoli is, of course, hitman Gonzalo Higuain (10/3 to be on target first). Though, Jose Callejon (9/5 to net anytime) has scored on each of Roma’s past two trips down south.

Meanwhile, the Giallorossi will be counting on last scorer Miralem Pjanic (10/1 to have the final say) to create fireworks, as the playmaker also has previous success in this fixture.

Juve to silence Viola

Juventus are back in contention for the title, and can close the gap with surprise second spot warmers Fiorentina to two points and increase their chances of retaining Serie A, as they play host in Turin.

The Old Lady have the bit between their teeth, having won five league fixtures on the trot and are odds-on at 7/10 to make it six.

Viola have so far put up a fascinating challenge for the Scudetto, but tend to come unstuck against Juventus with just two victories in the last 18, especially away from home comforts. Back this to be a cracker then, after their previous duel produced five goals. At 3/1 to win and both teams to score, Juve could prove an outstanding punt.

Mario Mandzukic (4/1 to fire in first) and Paulo Dybala (9/5 to notch last) are the brightest Turin-based net threats of late, while Fiorentina offer in-form Josip Ilicic (7/2 to score anytime) and Nikola Kalinic (12/5).
