Serie A: Undefeated Roma ripe for a win on the road versus Sampdoria
With usual Scudetto rivals Juventus trailing, Italian capital club Roma have an opportunity to keep pace with an ambitious and revived Inter Milan, though must sink Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to impress their own title credentials.
Rudi Garcia’s guys go into this battle against the Blucerchiati incredibly unbeaten so far this season, though draws against lesser sides the Giallorossi were expected to defeat have cost crucial points. With this in mind, plus last season’s scuffle at Samp ending in a stalemate, customers can back a splitting of the spoils again at 5/2 with Coral.
Sampdoria did get the better of two tussles against the Romans last term, taking four points from six, so are 13/4 for a triumph on home turf here. Yet that was under the stewardship of now AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, while Roma are also a different beast this season.
Having bared their teeth in big games against Juve and Barcelona, to claim a crucial win and draw respectively, the Eternal City outfit are odds-on match favourites at 3/4 to step up again when it counts, or a much more appealing 14/5 for victory with both teams to score.
Neither side has been short of goals this campaign, though attacking positions is clearly the area in which the Eternal City outfit hold a clear advantage.
Roma’s French tactician Garcia has come under fire for resting and rotating players, so superb summer loan signings Edin Dzeko and Iago Falque should be restored to the starting XI raring to go, with the potent pair 9/2 and 7/4 to net first and anytime respectively.
Also fresh should be impressive Giallorossi academy graduate Alessandro Florenzi, with the in-form midfielder 15/8 in the anytime market, having already hit two this term. While, iconic captain Francesco Totti is 5/1 to close the scoring after clocking-up his 300th club goal last time out.
Walter Zenga’s Samp side are not without a few formidable weapons in their own armoury, however. So, punters may do well to place a stake on Brazil-born Italy striker Eder Citadin Martins, who has hit an impressive four in five, at 6/1 to bag the opener, or 7/4 to cause an upset anytime.
Also in with a shout of causing havoc is Colombian goal threat Luis Muriel, 9/4 to notch anytime, or ever-mercurial marksman Antonio Cassano, who is 15/2 to have the final say against his former club.
Betting tip: Roma have shown their strength in big battles and are a fantastically priced at 14/5 to win with both teams to score
