Superb Sunday European tips starring Real, Atletico Madrid and more

Holly Thackeray | February 20, 2016

There is more than just FA Cup action going on this weekend, with several stupendous Sunday scuffles across the continent. So, if you enjoy a flutter on European fancies, here are five top tips you might want to take this weekend…

Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Dortmund – Away win to nil

First up on our list is this early afternoon encounter, so grab a beer and enjoy as these two Bundesliga big names face off.

Borussia Moenchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund

Thomas Tuchel’s tantalising Dortmund team smashed three past Bayer earlier this term with no response, so look tasty at 16/5 for another win to nil here.

Leverkusen have proven thorny opponents for BVB before but Dortmund are currently highly diligent in defence, keeping four clean sheets in their last five games, including midweek versus Portuguese giants Porto.

Atalanta v Fiorentina – Bernardeschi anytime scorer

While, across the continent to Italy, Bergamo Alps provide the backdrop for a battle between Atalanta and Tuscan travellers Fiorentina.

If the Viola are to prove their top three credentials, after holding Tottenham to a Europa League draw midweek, they must sink their hosts, who are on a run of 10 Serie A matches without a win.

Paulo Sousa has been shuffling his pack a lot recently, but Italian attacker Federico Bernardeschi has bagged two in four and is starting to become a real fixture. So, back the goal hero against Spurs at a fantastic 12/5 to strike again anytime.

Malaga v Real Madrid – Los Blancos win and both teams score

We then swap to Spain for a glass of sangria while watching Real arrive at Malaga. Zinedine Zidane’s guys are so far unbeaten since the Frenchman grabbed the reins, but have a far from solid backline.

On the road, Real have not kept a Liga clean sheet in four, so make most sense as an 11/5 bet for all three points but Malaga to strike also.

Audi Cup - Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur

The revived Anchovies have been a force on home turf of late, even breaching Barcelona, so will expected to dent this defence.

Schalke v Stuttgart – Draw

Back in Germany, Gelsenkirchen club Schalke have stumbled recently, and are without a win in two across all competitions.

While, Stuttgart, a club that looked destined to drop from the German top-tier earlier this term, are now clawing their way back up the Bundesliga table.

Die Roten are undefeated now in their last seven league outings, so are tempting at 27/10 to force a split of the spoils at Schalke, as the Royal Blues could only manage a narrow victory in the reverse when Stuttgart were at their worst.

Atletico Madrid v Villarreal – Match total under 1.5 goals

Round off Sunday in the Spanish capital, as La Liga’s two staunchest rearguards square-up. Atletico and Villarreal have conceded just 29 goals between them all term, so this tussle should be tight.

In addition, there has been just one strike per match in five of these two ambitious teams’ last six meetings, with all of those ending 1-0. So, why not back a close contest at 7/4 for under 1.5 goals in the game.
