Transfer round-up: Mandzukic and Michu on the move?

There has been widespread movement throughout the betting industry on Croatia and Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic making Atletico Madrid his next club.

Prolific Poland international Robert Lewandowski has now made his switch from Borussia Dortmund to the Allianz, leaving Mandzukic’s role in the plans of Bayern boss Pep Guardiola unclear. Swapping the Bundesliga champions for La Liga winners Atletico would be a route out of Munich for him.

Diego Simeone is in the market to bring a striker to the Vicente Calderon following Chelsea’s capture of Brazilian-born Spain international Diego Costa. Atletico are 10/1 with Coral to retain the Spanish top-flight title this term.

In other news, Serie A side Napoli have reportedly entered negotiations with Swansea City, 5/1 to be relegated from the Premier League, over the proposed sale of forward Michu, after the Spaniard was omitted from their pre-season American tour squad.

The 28-year-old was hailed as a bargain buy of 2012 when he made a £2.2m switch to the Liberty Stadium from little known Madrid club Rayo Vallecano. Michu was prolific during his maiden campaign in Britain, but then saw his second season blighted by injury.

Michael Laudrup lost his job as Swans boss in February, but they preserved top-flight status under caretaker and managerial novice Garry Monk, who has since been made permanent boss. Michu is not the only name linked with leaving the Liberty this summer either.

Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony and Wales left back Ben Davies are reported targets for top teams. Swansea face a tough challenge, meanwhile, to bring midfielder Jonathan de Guzman, who spent the last two seasons on loan, to the club from Villarreal permanently.

Finally, West Ham have launched an audacious £12m bid to land former Liverpool target Yevhen Konoplyanka. The Ukraine winger, 24, famously scored a stunning goal against England at Wembley in World Cup qualifying.

Sam Allardyce, 5/2 to steer the Hammers to a top 10 finish, has already bolstered his forward options with the capture of Argentine attacker Mauro Zarate. Left back Aaron Cresswell and holding player Cheikhou Kouyate are other arrivals at Upton Park this summer.
