Twitter reacts to weekend’s sporting action

It has been another enthralling weekend of sporting action, kicking off with electrifying Premier League fixtures, as well as a dramatic fight night taking place in Texas, America.

Pep Guardiola has continued to make his mark in England, with his Manchester City side simply blowing Bournemouth away in their 4-0 triumph, while Liverpool’s Liam Smith was dethroned by Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in the early hours of Sunday morning.

So read on to see the best Twitter reaction to both sporting events which Coral have picked out just for you…

Manchester City 4-1 Bournemouth

Guardiola has started life on the blue half of Manchester perfectly, winning every game so far, and his Sky Blues produced another attacking masterclass to overcome Eddie Howe’s Cherries. Are they future champions?

The Spanish tactician reaped massive praise on star of the latest win Kevin De Bruyne afterwards, comparing the Belgium international to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi…

Pep’s on fire…

England supporters will be wondering where this Raheem Sterling was during Euro 2016, with the Man City attacker having showed glimpses of brilliance in the victory.

The Sky Blues will take some stopping this current campaign…

Many have been quick to praise Marcus Rashford on the red half of the City, but what about Kelechi Iheanacho?

Potential City superstar…

The only thing to have gone wrong for City was the red card handed out to Spaniard Nolito, for a headbutt on Adam Smith…

Although it’s good news for a certain Leroy Sane next time out…

Canelo stops Smith to reign in Texas

In Texas, Mexican star Canelo dethroned travelling Merseysider Smith to claim the WBO light-middleweight title in front of 50k fans at the AT&T Stadium…

All the talk afterwards (and before) was surrounding an awaited clash between Canelo and middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin, who recently stopped a Briton too, when halting Kell Brook in London…

Amir Khan was also knocked out by Canelo earlier this year and he called on his conqueror to man up and finally face ‘GGG’…

Canelo had previously vacated the WBC middleweight crown in order to avoid or prolong a meeting with ‘GGG’ but made some bold claims after his Smith win regarding their touted fight…

The Mexican halted Khan with a brutal overhand right, but it was a well-timed body shot in the ninth round that earned him victory over Smith in America…

In true Terminator fashion, Smith declared “I’ll be back” in light of his first career loss…

Tony Bellew was one of many fighters full of praise for the beaten Merseysider…

All eyes will be looking towards a showdown between Canelo and ‘GGG’ now, but will the bout finally be made?
