Best goals across the globe for September 3-4

Coral present Weekend Worldies – where we’ve compiled some of the greatest goals across the globe from September 3rd-4th, just for your viewing pleasure.

So, scroll down to see top wonderstrikes from the international break, English Football League and elsewhere

Matt Taylor

In an eventual 3-2 victory for Northampton over MK Dons, former Premier League midfielder Taylor stepped up and dispatched a trademark free-kick for the winning side.

The now 34-year-old helped the Cobblers along with his precise curling set-piece finding the top right corner and edging them 2-0 ahead, as they ultimately earned three League One points.

Dmytro Ulyanov

Next up is an early contender for the Puskas Award, with FC Avanhard Kramatorsk defender Ulyanov dispatching an impressive scorpion kick in the Ukrainian second division.

Lionel Messi

Messi’s international retirement came to a swift end this weekend as he returned to the Argentina fold and did what he does best, score important goals.

The Barcelona superstar picked up the ball on the edge of the Uruguay penalty area, swivelled away from incoming defenders and unleashed a low-driven effort which ultimately handed Argentina three points in this World Cup qualifier.

Giovani dos Santos

LA Galaxy secured a 2-1 triumph over Columbus Crew in their MLS meeting and it was former Barcelona attacker Dos Santos that produced a moment of magic during proceedings.

The Mexico international forward latched onto a through ball with just 10 minutes remaining and continued towards goal, before superbly beating the incoming goalkeeper with a delicate chipped effort.

Bradley Dack

In a League One encounter between Gillingham and Sheffield United, there was another sublime free-kick which found the top corner.

Sending a curling effort into the corner and just beyond the reach of Sheffield’s shot stopper, Dack opened the scoring in an entertaining third tier match-up.

Sergio Diaz

Real Madrid may be enduring a break in their season, but their lower league side Castilla were in action and were helped by a stunning long-range strike from Diaz, as the Paraguayan forward continues his fine early campaign form.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Pep Guardiola, were you watching? Manchester City starlet Iheanacho unleashed an absolute thunderbolt while on international duty for Nigeria against Tanzania, handing his nation a 1-0 success.
