Jack Wilshere announced that he is to leave Arsenal this summer.
Many options have been touted but staying in the Premier League looked the most likely.
This was until reports that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are now ready to swoop in.
The 26-year-old confessed it was with a heavy heart he was leaving North London.
But after a meeting with new Arsenal manager Unai Emery, they couldn’t come to an agreement on Wilshere’s game-time.
Bookmaker Coral now make Fenerbahce the 5-2 favourites to be Jack Wilshere’s next club following a flurry of bets this morning.
Remaining in London is still an option but a return to Champions League football might be too good to turn down.
Fenerbahce finished second in the Turkish Super Lig and are looking to re-shape their side.
Phillip Cocu has emerged as the favourite to take on the vacant manager’s role.
There’s also interest in Wilshere’s England team-mate Daniel Sturridge.
Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “It took us by surprise as much as anybody else but it seems as though a lot of people are convinced that Jack Wilshere’s next move will be to Istanbul and Fenerbahce. We’ve seen a lot of bets on the move and it is now the favourite in our betting for his next destination,”
If Wilshere does opt to remain in the Premier League it looks as though he’ll opt to remain in London, with West Ham, Crystal Palace and Fulham all in the mix,” added Aitkenhead.
