Nottingham best bets: Carlos Court value in British Breeders Final

David Metcalf | 25 October 2016

Carlos Court gets the verdict in British Breeders Stakes Final

The final of the British Breeders Stakes (21:08) is the feature race on a competitive card at Nottingham tonight on Sky Sports 3 and T5 Carlos Court looks cracking value to take advantage of what looks a good draw to land the spoils.

Derek Deakin’s dog is a really pacey sort who has run well in the heats without getting his head in front.

On each occasion he has not been foot perfect at the start before showing plenty of speed on the run to the first corner.

A better exit is surely forthcoming and his recent trial at the track before the competition got underway when clocking 29.95 showed what he is capable of and reads well.

With T4 Calco Flyer sure to be cutting in at the first bend, and three early paced types on his inner, there is a possibility of crowding on the inside and if that proves to be the case then Carlos Court looks ideally housed as the sole middle seed to turn in front and play catch me if you can.

Kildallon fancied to Bolt up again

T5 Kildallon Bolt is in tremendous form at present and looks a worthy red-favourite to notch another success in the Puppy Trophy (19:59).

Heather Dimmock’s youngster has won five of his last six starts and could not have been more impressive in the last of those when flashing from the lids and making all to land the Northern Puppy Final at Newcastle by three lengths.

The son of Barefoot Bolt is a rising star who packs a real punch early doors and once getting on the bunny is an extremely tough sort to pass.

He has also won three of his four starts at the track and this looks another golden opportunity for him to bang out and make all.

Alpha makes plenty of appeal

In the 500m Standard (20:33), T5 Alpha Carinea appeals in a wide open contest.

The son of Tubbertrelly Dubh had some top class for to his name in Ireland, beating the very useful Blue Cafu by a short-head and running and absolute blinder to finish a 3 3/4 length third to the brilliant Ballymac Matt in the heats of this year’s Irish Greyhound Derby.

Greyhounds - Romford Greyhound Stadium

After being turned over at Doncaster when sent off odds-on on debut for trainer Susan Watson, Alpha Carinea has since gone on to land a back-to-back successes at the same venue.

He was particularly impressive in the last of those when overcoming crowding to forge clear and score by 7 1/4 lengths and there was lots to like about his recent trial at this venue when clocking a very respectable 30.38.

Alpha Carinea is entitled to improve for that sighter if leading T6 Stay Lucky to the first bend could prove very hard to contain.

Atlantis Jacob looks tasty in Marathon

T4 Atlantis Jacob has some useful form to his name and looks the answer to the 905m Marathon Trophy (20:51).

Phil Simmonds’ charge ran a blinder three starts back when a length runner-up to Droopys Cottage at Romford and was also far from disgraced last time out when third to the same rival over 680m at this venue.

Greyhounds - Newcastle Ground Track

Those races read well in the context of this contest and this arguably represents a slight drop in class for Atlantis Jacob.

The step back up trip should also suit and at the odds on offer he looks well worth a punt.

Nottingham best bets

19:59 T5 Kildallon Bolt
20:33 T5 Alpha Carinea (NB)
20:51 T4 Atlantis Jacob
21:08 T5 Carlos Court (NAP)
