Be Witch looks magic in Diamond Stakes
There are some decent Open races on a 13-race mixed card at Romford tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Live Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T1 Be Witch rates the standout bet in the 575m Nicky Nak Diamond Stakes at 20:34.
David Mullins’ bitch is a nine-time winner at the track and has a terrific strike rate of 33 per cent when sporting the red jacket (five wins from 15 starts).
The daughter of Droopys Woods has plenty of early pace and is also a strong stayer with winning form to her name of 750m.
Be Witch ran a blinder over 750m last time out when a 2 3/4 length fourth to Droopys Cottage where she was quickly away and led until getting picked up close home by the pack.
This represents a drop in class and, if reproducing the early dash she showed in that contest, Be Witch is going to be very hard to contain from what looks a good draw.
Millwards Master can teach rivals a lesson
T3 Millwards Master is a very useful sort when timing it right at the lids and looks decent value to notch another success at the track in the Romford Friday Night 500 Stayers Final (21:06).
Paul Young’s 2016 Coronation Cup star has won 11 of his 39 starts at the venue and has a near 33 per cent strike rate from the white jacket.
Although beaten two lengths into second by Newlawn Peter in last week’s heats, Millwards Master was not ideally drawn in Trap 1 and stayed on well after being slowly away.
The return to the pinging box is sure to suit and he had previously shown what he is capable of doing from it when producing a 13.68 sectional to make all and beat the thriving Illseeyougain by 1 1/2 lengths.
Granted a similar exit, and clear passage round the first bend, he can prove too strong for his rivals.
Dark Recruit to dazzle in Puppy Cup
In the Romford Puppy Cup Final (21:24), T1 Dark Recruit looks a worthy red-hot favourite to land the spoils.
David Pruh’s youngster was an unlucky loser in the first round when forced to check at a vital stage before running on strongly to go down by diminishing length to Toolmaker Rambo.
The son of Romeo Recruit then made no mistake in last week’s semis when showing bags of early pace from Trap 1 to lead at the first and make all to beat kennelmate Kooga Klammer by a cosy two lengths.
Dark Recruit never looked like being caught at any stage and once again looks ideally housed to boss the rails, get on the bunny and dominate from the front.
Illseeyouagain drawn to deliver in finale
T6 Illseeyougain is in the form of his life at present and can make the most of what looks a great draw to land the Coral Home Of The Price Bomb Stayers that brings proceedings to a close (10:40).
Bernie Doyle’s charge has won three of his five last starts and was very impressive eight days ago at Wimbledon when flashing from the lids to make all and beat Spa Road Piper by 1 3/4 lengths.
There were no excuses for the re-opposing runner-up and Illseeyougain had previously run a cracker over course and distance when runner up to Millwards Master in a time of 35.54.
That sets a clear standard in this line-up and as the sole wide seed Illseeyougain looks ideally housed in the stripes to ping out and make all.
