Bank Holiday racing tips: Bertie and Bossipop ready to rock at Ripon

Bertie worth a bet at Ripon
Father Bertie features in Coral’s Monday Bank Holiday flat horse racing tips and looks decent value to take advantage of a drop in the weights to land the 1m Ripon Rowels Handicap on today’s card at 15.20.
The Tim Easterby trained gelding enjoyed a tremendous 2015 when scoring four times, with his last success coming at Redcar back in October when gamely hanging on to score by a nose off a mark of 86.
Father Berite has also posted a number of solid efforts this season, including when a 1 1/2 length third of 12 to Treasury Notes over course and distance.
The four-year-old now meets that rival on 18lb better terms and that gives him outstanding claims of turning the tables.
Father Bertie also comes into the contest having hinted that his time was near when a fine 3/4 length third at Redcar and off an unchanged mark of 85 is running off a rating 1lb lower than when last successful.
Bossipop to give rivals a bashing
Bossipop has a good record at the Ripon and looks to hold leading claims of providing Eatserby with a double on the card in the 6f handicap (16.30).
The gelding won over course and distance on return to action in April and also ran very well at the venue four starts back when a 3/4 length runner-up to Flying Pursuit in a class 3 contest off a mark of 81.
Bossipop is now able to race in this lower grade class 4 contest off 1lb lower and can be forgiven his last run at Chester when rearing in the stalls and blowing the start.
The return to this venue is a big plus and with the stable in good form this looks a nice opportunity for Bossipop to get back to winnings ways.
Just Isla weighted to collect at Chepstow
Just Isla has become dangerously well-treated and looks the answer to the 7f handicap on a competitive card at Chepstow (13.30).
The mare won twice last summer when trained by Michael Blanshard, landing a 7f contest at Lingfield off 59 and a 1m handicap at Kempton off 58.
Just Isla got put up to 62 after the latter and after failing to trouble the judge in her next three starts spent a lengthy 199 days on the sidelines.
Although well beaten on return to action at Lingfield, the six-year-old has since shown that she retains plenty of ability when an eye-catching third at Bath on her penultimate outing.
Just Isla, who is now in the care of the shrewd John Flint, is now able to race off a reduced rating of just 54 and that gives the course and distance winner major claims from a handicapping perspective.
Humidor primed for repeat success at Epsom
Humidor shaped really well last time out and can cash-in on a drop in the weights to land back-to-back successes in the 5f handicap on today’s card at Epsom (15.15).
The George Baker trained gelding is now 3lb lower than when beating Elusivity in the race 12 months ago and also finished first past the post in the voided 2014 renewal of the contest.
It makes Humidor nicely treated on the pick of his form and after some below par efforts this season the nine-year-old posted a much improved run last time out when a cracking 1 1/2 length fourth of 16 to Boom The Groom at Goodwood.
That was a big step back in the right direction and if building on it Humidor looks weighted to get back on the scoresheet in this less competitive affair at a venue which clearly brings out the best in him.
