Bet of the day: Monday’s racing
Selection in every race at Ripon
We start the week with British and Irish afternoon meetings scheduled at Ripon and Ayr, while those after an interest to take them through the evening have plenty to be getting on with at Windsor, Wolverhampton and Ballinrobe.
Place your bets on every race at every meeting with Coral. Our team of horse racing experts have run over the major players and return with a selection in each of the six at Ripon. Pick out your best and throw them together in an accumulator, or read on as we detail our NAP of the day.
NAP Eagle Creek to soar
The action at Ripon gets underway at 2.00pm and a glance through our race-by-race selections, which can be found further down this page, will show that we have Take Shelter as the one to be on in the opener. We’re hopeful of getting off on the winning foot, but our ace goes later in the day.
The 3.30pm handicap, raced over the one-mile trip, looks the most intriguing leg of the six, with a snappy six-runner field marked down in the programm. Of the half-dozen, Eagle Creek will take all the beating for trainer Simon Crisford, who has popular jockey Andrea Atzeni in the saddle.
Pick impressive at Lingfield
The selection arrives at course on the back of a rather disappointing mid-division finish at Newmarket last time out. He didn’t look himself that day though, never in the race as a threat to the prize places, and the three-year-old gelding is better than that, so we’ll forgive him a hiccup. We saw flashes of his true self when winning a maiden at Lingfield the start before.
That remains Eagle Creek’s only score from three starts, but he absolutely hacked up that day over 1m 1f, beating nearest finisher Mathix home by a full six lengths. Going off as favourite, he made all, taking complete control of the race from the start, and quickened when asked going for home. If we see a repeat of that, he’ll be back in the winner’s enclosure – as will we.
