Big price Sunday Naas NAP

Daniel McKeown | 12 March 2017

We give a pick in every race

As we gather pace towards Cheltenham, punters are running out of time to get their festival balance in order. We are given an opportunity to have a positive influence on Sunday however, with UK and Irish meetings pencilled in for Market Rasen, Wawrick and Naas.

Click here to place all your Sunday horse racing bets at Coral, or read on for our take on the best plays from County Kildare. We focus on the grade three novice chase, due off at 3.45pm, but if you’d prefer to bet on the go, skip to the bottom of the page for a selection in every race, designed to give a helping hand in your multiples.

A tight five-runner field is headed by Ball D’arc in the betting, and our traders are offering 7/4 at present on Gordon Elliott’s hopeful doing the business. It really does come as no surprise to see odds compilers take that stance either, as the five-year-old gelding arrives chasing down a hat-trick, having won at Fairyhouse and Navan in his last two goes. The start before was a runner-up behind Oscar Knight, which isn’t to be sniffed at either.

Taking one at a price for the upset

We make this a little more competitive however, and will be taking the jolly on with a plucky outsider in Alamein. Now, we will need our fair share of luck to be up cashing that bet in, but the seven-year-old was a real eyecatcher last time out when winning around Fairyhouse off a chunky SP. He trampled all over the field that day, beating closest finisher Dicosimo home by a comfortable margin.

That performance would’ve been noted by plenty of shrewd punters, and he was perhaps most impressive at the finish, running on when it mattered to suggest there was plenty more to give, which we will hopefully see here.

Followers of the stats will be encouraged to know that trainer Mouse Morris boasts a 40 per cent strike rate from horses sent out in the last fortnight. That isn’t something to be overlooked in a hurry, and the 13/2 currently on offer at Coral looks well worth a pop.
