Chelmsford tips and Newbury best bets: Coolcalmcollected worth a punt

David Metcalf | August 23, 2016

Tuesday night sees horse racing meetings at Chelmsford and Newbury, and that means more betting opportunities for Coral punters!

Our experts run the rule over the top Chelmsford tips and Newbury best bets for you to consider if you fancy a flutter this evening…

Coolcalmcollected hot stuff at Chelmsford

Trainer David Loughnane has his team in good form, and Coolcalmcollected looks to hold outstanding claims of providing him with another winner in the 7f handicap that gets proceedings underway on this evening’s card at Chelmsford (18:10).

The filly is on a losing run of 11, having not scored since landing a class 5 contest at Sandown 13 months ago off a mark of 65 when in the care of Chris Wall.

However, that has resulted in a drop in the weights and Coolcalmcollected is now able to race in this lower grade class 6 affair off a career-low rating of just 52.

Chelmsford City

It gives the four-year-old major claims from a handicapping perspective and she comes into the race on the back of a highly pormising debut for Loughnane when third at Catterick.

Coolcalmcollected pulled hard in the early stages, and was not ideally placed when the pace quickened before making good headway two from home and keeping on nicely to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths without being unduly knocked about.

It was a much improved effort and, if building on it, Coolcalmcollected looks weighted to get back to winning ways in a weak contest for the grade lacking any real strength in depth.

Wild Hacked can cash-in on class drop

In the 1m 2f handicap (20:10), Wild Hacked can take advantage of a drop in grade to get back on the scoresheet and that’s why he’s among Chelmsford tips.

The Marco Botti trained colt won a maiden at Windsor on return to action and has since posted several solid efforts in decent handicaps.

hacked

After a fine fifth of 13 to Garcia in the valuable class 2 Silver Bowl at Haydock, Wild Hacked travelled powerfully and looked all over the winner a furlong out before being beaten just 1 3/4 lengths into third behind Threat Assessed in a class 3 contest at Sandown.

The three-year-old also ran very well last time out when runner-up to Borocco in a class 3 affair at Newmarket and the winner, to whom he was conceding 10lb, is a thriving sort who has come out and won again since.

That form reads very well in the context of this lower grade class 4 affair and Wild Hacked is able to race in it off an unchanged mark.

Nayyar the ace in the pack at Newbury

Nayyar can cash-in on what looks a lenient mark to land the 5f nursery on this evening’s card at Newbury (17.10) now eased in grade.

Trained by Charlie Hills, the colt made an impressive winning debut at Chepstow and the third and fourth home have both come out and won since.

After being slowly away, the son of Exceed And Excel took a keen hold and quickly made up the lost ground to be on the heels of the leaders.

Nayyar was then produced to take up the running at the furlong marker and readily pulled clear to score easily by 2 1/4 lengths despite showing distinct signs of greenness.

It was a most taking display which suggested Nayyar had a big engine and needed keeping onside.

Connections decided to have a crack at the Group 2 Molecombe Stakes at Goodwood on the back of that victory, and Nayyar showed plenty of speed until weakening to finish a well-beaten eighth of nine to Yalta.

This is much easier and an opening handicap mark of 81 could seriously underestimate Nayyar’s ability judged on the manner of his Chepstow success.

Francisco weighted to go well

In the 6f handicap (18.50), Francisco looks a lively outsider and decent each-way value among Newbury best bets in a wide open contest.

The Richard Hannon’s gelding won two of his three starts last year, with the last of those successes coming at Goodwood off a mark of 83.

Francisco got put up to 87 for that victory, and ran a stormer of it on seasonal reappearance when second of 13 to Clear Spring in a competitive class 2 contest over course and distance.

The four-year-old has failed to build on that run in five subsequent outings but as a result is now able to race off a reduced rating of just 80.

That is a career-low and gives Francisco a big shout at the weights in this class 4 contest if bouncing back to anything like his best.
