Cheltenham day one: Twitter reacts

Daniel McKeown | 14 March 2017

What Twitter made of Tuesday

Day one of the Cheltenham Festival is now in the books, and there was no lack of talking points as the curtain went up. It certainly wasn’t a day to be on the favourites, as many of us expected, with 25/1 poke Labaik beating Melon in the opener to set the pace.

The biggest disappointment of the early exchanges for backers however was, without doubt, Yanworth, who finished an uninspiring seventh in the Champion Hurdle, despite going to post as 2/1 jolly. He would’ve taken down a lot of accumulators in the process.

It was also a busy day on social media, and we pick out the best tweets, which do a good job of summing up the mood going into Wednesday…..
