Sprinter Sacre to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase 7/1!

Sprinter Sacre bids to become the second horse since Royal Relief in 1974 to regain his Champion Chase crown on Wednesday.

Winner of 14 of his 18 starts including seven of those at Grade One level, he has amassed a total of £751,386 in prize money so far.

Nicky Henderson’s charge had looked almost unbeatable a couple of years ago when racking up a ten race winning sequence over fences, five per season.

We are offering a crazy 7/1 on him winning!

He caught the imagination of everyone when winning his first chase at Doncaster under David Bass where he was simply electric before following up at Kempton in the Wayward Lad, claiming what was at the time a notable scalp in Peddler’s Cross.

His next start was frightening when he won on the bridle in open company at Newbury when breaking the track record before ending his season when bagging the Arkle at Cheltenham and the Maghull at Aintree with the minimum of fuss.

The return the following season was billed up to be a match between himself and the Paul Nicholls trained Sanctuaire when they met in the Tingle Creek. It turned into a procession as Sprinter Sacre demolished him by a distance before taking in the Victor Chandler ran at Cheltenham.

A bold decision was made to take him to all three major Festivals. He started with a 19 length romp in the Queen Mother Champion Chase before stepping up to 2m4f in what was considered the race of the season with the likes of Cue Card, Flemenstar and Finian’s Rainbow who all excelled over the distance. He still won without coming off the bridle. A trip to Punchestown beckoned where he beat Sizing Europe but it wasn’t the performance expected, however a hard season looked to have caught up with him.

The last two years have been covered extensively but his return to the track at Ascot in the Clarence House merits a mention. It can be read in one of two ways.

If you believe that Sprinter Sacre will improve from that run, then take our 7/1 (T&Cs apply) which could look massive if he comes back to his best.
