Coral printing money with Quevega at 4/1 for record-breaking win

How could punters turn down a bulletproof bet at 4/1? Well this is what a Quevega victory has become at the Cheltenham Festival in the last five years and there is no reason to suggest a break from the norm in 2014.

History beckons for Quevega as the first six-time winner at the Cheltenham Festival and new customers with Coral are being given the chance to cheer the closing stages of the Mares’ Hurdle even louder.

The magnitude of Quevega’s likely achievement has even brought a change to the Cheltenham TV schedule, with the Mares’ Hurdle moved to an earlier time slot so that it can be shown among the terrestrial coverage.

Punters have been fairly lucky when siding with Cheltenham bankers in recent years, with Big Buck’s landing the World Hurdle in the four years between 2009 and 2012 and Bobs Worth securing victories at the last three Festivals.

But Quevega has always led the way, three times rewarding odds-on backers and her five Mares’ Hurdles victories have arrived by a total of as good as 35 lengths.

Also in Quevega’s favour is that only three other of the 21 total Mares’ Hurdle entrants have course-winning form at Cheltenham and one of these is Annie Power, who is 99 per cent likely to run in the World Hurdle instead.

Given that Quevega has only run eight times in the last four years and has been far from pushed anywhere close to the limit for the majority, there is little reason to believe that her best days are behind her yet.

With Mullins even indicating in the last month that Quevega was ahead of schedule in her Cheltenham preparations, forget the best bet of Cheltenham, Quevega at 4/1 is possibly the best bet of 2014!
