Fakenham preview: Oscar Jane can land hat-trick
David Metcalf | November 17, 2015
Oscar Jane is in the form of her life at present and can make light of a 7lb penalty to make it three wins on the bounce in the 2m 7f handicap hurdle on today’s card at Fakenham (15.15).
Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy, Oi Oi Oi!
The Johnny Farrelly trained mare gained due reward for a series of solid efforts when making all to win easing down by six lengths at Towcester off a mark of 77 two starts back. Oscar Jane jumped superbly throughout and none of her rivals ever looked liked landing a blow at any stage.
It was a most impressive performance, and the eight-year-old had little difficulty following-up under a 7lb penalty at Taunton five days ago. Oscar Jane again made all and only had to be ridden out to score with far more in hand the winning margin of 1/2 a length suggests.
Although Oscar Jane now has to contend with a further 7lb rise in the weights, she was rated as high as 102 in the past so still looks ahead of the assessor off a mark of 94 and weighted to take all the beating.
Move it like a Lady!
In the 2m 5f handicap chase (13.40), Ballydague Lady looks to have been found a lovely opening to get back on the scoresheet. The Neil Mulholland trained mare came good at this time of the year last season when winning back-to-back contests at Fontwell and Sedgefield, and hinted that her time was near when runner-up last time out at Wincanton.
Ballydague Lady made a couple of costly errors before keeping on well for pressure to go down by just 1 1/2 lengths to Houston Dynamo. It was arguably a career-best effort from the eight-year-old, and the form reads well in the context of this context.
She should also now be spot on to do herself justice after two runs to blow away the cobwebs, and this looks a weak class 4 contest in which a repeat of her latest effort should be more than good enough to land the spoils.
