Flowing Clarets and Rosie Royce among tips for Windsor

Flowing Clarets fancied to collect for Fahey

Trainer Richard Fahey has an excellent record with his runners at Windsor, and Flowing Clarets can take advantage of a drop back in class to provide him with another winner in the 6f claiming stakes on today’s card at the Berkshire venue (14.20).

The North Yorkshire-based handler has a 50 per cent strike rate at the track in the past 12 months, saddling four winners from just eight runners.

In Flowing Clarets he has a filly who has proven form in testing conditions, having notched both her career successes on soft ground.

The last of those came in a seller at Leicester two starts back, where the three-year-old made all to outclass the opposition.

Flowing Clarets then found the competition too hot when stepped back into handicap company and finishing just eighth in a class 3 contest at Hamilton, but did show plenty of early dash to race up with the pace until weakening late on to be beaten 5 1/2 lengths.

This represents a return to much calmer waters and a level in which the daughter of Pastoral Pursuits is entitled to be really competitive on the pick of her form.

Rosie Royce ready to bloom

Rosie Royce has shaped with plenty of promise in three runs this season and looks to have been found a nice opportunity to open her account in the 5f handicap (16.50).

After finishing fourth over 6f at Salisbury when fading late on, the Henry Candy trained filly posted a similar effort when a 3/4 length fourth over the same trip at this venue.

Rosie Royce led at the furlong marker in the latter, until being unable to find any extra close to home, and has since run well over today’s minimum trip when again weakening close home to finish a 2 1/2 length sixth of 14 at Nottingham.

The three-year-old has since been dropped 1lb to a rating of 66 and should be more than capable of winning races of her current mark.

Rosie Royce also remains lightly-raced and open to further improvement after just seven starts and, being a daughter of Acclamation, is bred to appreciate cut in the ground.
