Four in-a-row at Sandown

Frank Monkhouse | 25 May 2017

Thursday’s bet of the day

Sandown hosts a quality day of horse racing on Thursday evening, with the group three Brigadier Gerard Stakes billed as the best of a six-race card. There’s plenty to get involved with throughout – click here to place your horse racing bets.

Our NAP scored again on Wednesday, meaning we have found a fair share of the winners already this week. Aiming to kick on when it matters most, gathering pace towards the weekend, you’ll find our race-by-race selections at the bottom of this page.

Bet of the day was landed in each of the previous three outings this week, including a 9/2 winner on Monday. Let’s bag number four at Sandown on Thursday. We detail our NAP below…..

Big Orange taken to deliver

Getting underway at 6.00pm, we don’t have long to wait for our ace play of the evening, going all in on the 7.05pm group three Henry II Stakes. Two miles lies in front of this eye-catching seven-runner pack, and of the hopefuls, we are trusting Big Orange to keep the run going.

Picked out as the one to beat by our traders in the build-up, we’ve got to agree with them there, Michael Bell’s representative looking the pick of the bunch. Certainly on paper, and we’re confident he’ll live up to the pre-race hype. The six-year-old gelding has been on his travels of late, last seen finishing fourth at Meydan in the Dubai Gold Cup earlier this year. That effort came on the back of trips to Flemington and Sha Tin.

Dettori arrives in form

Connections have another big year mapped out for the group two Goodwood Cup winner, but he must impress here, and give followers something to get excited about. Easier said than done, but if matching up to the ability we know he has, banking the prize money should not be a problem, and he’ll prove beyond doubt that he’s head and shoulders above this lot.

With Frankie Dettori on board, he’s sure to be extremely popular on the day, and the 11/8 being offered by Coral at the time of writing won’t hang around. The Jockey arrives on a hot streak of form, and that does nothing but add confidence.
