Hamilton preview: Know Your Name weighted to collect

Know Your Name posted a cracking effort when runner-up last time out and looks weighted to go one better in the 1m handicap at Hamilton today (17.20) now eased in grade.

The gelding was last successful at Wolverhampton back in November when scoring by a neck off a mark of 65 when under the care of trainer David Evans.

Know Your Name went on to be placed off 67 at the same venue, and has also run well on a number of occasions this season to make the frame.

They include a fine 1/2 length second of 12 to Venutius in a class 5 contest at Carlisle 12 days ago on his first start since joining Eric Alston.

Know Your Name looked all over the winner when leading inside the final furlong before getting collared close home.

It was an effort which suggested the son of Halling would soon be back in the winners’ enclosure, and although 2lb higher in the weights Know Your Name’s current mark of 64 is still 1lb lower than when last victorious.

Know Your Name also now drops down into class 6 company, and that makes him look weighted to take all the beating if building on his latest run.

In the 6f handicap (14.20), Circuitous can take advantage of a drop in class to score an overdue success.

The Keith Dalgleish trained gelding is on a long losing run, having not scored since landing the 2013 running of the class 2 Ayr Bronze Cup over 6f off a mark of 78.

Circuitous plenty of slack and he is now able to race off just 63, 15lb lower, and that gives the son of Fasliyev major claims from a handicapping perspective.

The seven-year-old also comes in the race on the back of a fine third of 14 in a 7f class 5 contest at Ayr four days ago under Joe Fanning, and is able to race in this lower grade class 6 affair off the same mark.

Circuitous also once again has the services of Fanning in the saddle, who has won on him once and finished in the frame on eight occasions, and drops back to 6f over which he has notched five of his seven career successes.
