Haydock tips and Yarmouth bets: Bop It can bash rivals, Pacharana to perform

David Metcalf | August 4, 2016

Bop It hot stuff among Haydock tips

Bop It returned to form when runner-up last time out and can go one better to land back-to-back runnings of the 6f handicap at Haydock today (15:20).

This gelding was last successful in this contest 12 months ago off a mark of 68 when trained by Geoff Oldroyd, and was then far from disgraced next time up when fourth at Redcar off 73.

HORSE RACING

Now in the care of David O’Meara, Bop It is able to race off just 2lb higher than last year and comes into the race on the back of a fine second of 19 to Available in a competitive class 4 contest at York.

The seven-year-old travelled sweetly on the heels of the leaders, running on strongly inside the final furlong to go down by just a head. It was an effort which suggested his time was near.

Bop It also now drops back down into class 5 company and another plus is that three of his last four wins have come at the venue.

Tanaasub ticks all the right boxes

Also among Haydock tips is Tanaasub, who scored in terrific style last time out. This filly can cash-in on what looks handy mark to follow-up in the other 6f handicap on the card (14:50).

Race horse trainer ROBERT COWELL.

Trained by Robert Cowell, she came good at the third time of asking when showing blistering early speed to make all and score easily by 3 3/4 lengths at Ripon.

Tanaasub was value for much more than the winning margin and it was a performance which suggested she was a sprinter that needed keeping firmly onside.

The third home in the race Noah Amor, who was beaten three lengths, has also come out and won since to be rated 65. That makes an opening handicap mark of 67 for Tanaasub look extremely lenient.

Tanaasub also remains unexposed and open to stacks more improvement, hailing from a yard that has a tremendous record with its sprinters.

Haydock selections

13.50: Tiga Tuan
14.20: Mubtasim
14.50: Tanaasub (NB)
15.20: Bop It (NAP)
15.50: Trevisani
16.20: Sister Dude
16.50: Deansgate

Pacharana poised to follow-up at Yarmouth

Pacharana scored in good style last time out, so is among featured Yarmouth bets, appealing in the 1m 2f handicap (15:10)..

Luca Cumani

The Luca Cumani trained filly hinted at ability before coming good at the fifth time of asking over course and distance two weeks ago.

After being held-up off the pace by Coral ambassador Jamie Spencer, the three-year-old made good headway a furlong from home to take up the running inside the last and beat Hope Is High by 1 1/2 lengths.

Pacharana was well on top at the finish, scoring with more in hand than the final winning margin suggests, and the runner-up has since come out a bolted up at Brighton.

That gives the form a solid look and that means a 5lb rise in the weights is unlikely to be enough to stop Pacharana going in again.

Yarmouth bets: Zeshov handicapped to strike

In the 7f handicap that brings proceedings to a close (17:10), Zeshov can take advantage of a drop in the weights to get back to winning ways.

Zeshov

The gelding was last successful at Newmarket 13 months ago off a mark of 73 when trained by Jeremy Noseda, and awarded the race in the stewards’ room after going down by 1/2 a length in a driving finish.

Now in the care of Rebecca Bastiman, the five-year-old is able to race off a reduced rating of 65 and comes into the contest on the back of an eye-catching effort at Beverley.

After being held-up off the pace, Zeshov was coming with what looked a powerful run two from home before encountering all sorts of trouble in-running.

The son of Acclamation was repeatedly blocked and unable to find daylight, so his jockey accepted the situation and eased him down to finish eighth.

There is little doubt that Zeshov would have gone very close granted a clear passage and this weak class 5 contest looks a nice opportunity for him to gain compensation.

Yarmouth selections

14.10: Ernststavroblofeld
14.40: Fast Sprite
15.10: Pacharana (NAP)
15.40: Sunbaked
16.10: Gomez
16.40: Mirror City
17.10: Zeshov (NB)
