Jump Racing is back on our screens with coverage from Market Rasen

Market Rasen provides the supporting act to Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire card on Saturday with the 2.15 and 2.50 races covered by Channel 4. Champion jockey AP McCoy has rides in the first four races, three of which are for Jonjo O’Neill.

Prompter was a promising novice last season and won in handicap company at Bangor-on-Dee in October. He has been running on the flat, most recently when unplaced at Kempton in August. He should be fit enough to do himself justice.

Nicky Henderson does not have many horses out this early in the season but Laudatory is bidding for a hat-trick after making all at Stratford. Tim Vaughan’s Falcarragh has also been busy and is seeking a four-timer under Richard Johnson.

Ittirad could be the one to beat after getting off the mark over course and distance last month. He could be leniently treated after only three runs over hurdles.

McCoy partners Twirling Magnet in the Handicap Chase at 2.50 but he needs to reverse the form with Newton Abbot scorer The Disengager. The latter is also a course and distance winner and defied 11st 12lb to win last time.

Bold Chief is another that arrives here in great form having won his last three races. He was left clear from 2 out at Newton Abbot last time and came home 40 lengths ahead of his nearest rival.

Charlie Longsdon relies on Grandads Horse who overcame a bad blunder to win comfortably at Southwell. Emma Lavelle saddles Bouggler and Well Regarded but both are having their seasonal debuts.

The five-furlong handicap from Haydock at 3.20 is also part of Channel 4’s coverage with seventeen runners entered for the £50,000 contest. Masamah heads the weights and will be ridden by Martin Harley, now the retained rider to Marco Botti’s stable.

He ran on well when second at Doncaster on his latest start and was only just collared by Louis The Pius over six furlongs here earlier in the season. Burning Thread put up an impressive display to win at Sandown and could be the answer to another tricky contest.

Selections: Market Rasen 2.15 Ittirad, 2.50 Bold Chief, Haydock 3.20 Burning Thread
