Kempton Preview: Lots to like about Lancelot Du Lac and FREE bets
David Metcalf | November 25, 2015
Lancelot Du Lac can take advantage of a drop in the weights to land the 6f handicap at Kempton (19.15), on an eight-race card where Coral are offering new customers £35 in FREE bets.
To qualify for the “Free bets through the card” offer, all you have to do is open an account and place a £5 bet on the first race at 16.15.
Lancelot worth a lot
Lancelot Du Lac hails from the Dean Ivory stable and rates the best bet on the card.
The Dean Ivory trained gelding has an excellent record at the track, having won twice and been placed once in four outings.
In the last of those successes, the five-year-old made all to score easily by 1 1/4 lengths off a mark of 108.
Lancelot Du Lac is now able to race off 3lb lower, and comes into the contest on the back of a cracking third in a Listed contest on the turf at Doncaster,
Pike Corner Cross worth a punt
In the 1m 2f handicap (17.15), the lightly-raced and unexposed Pike Corner Cross can cash-on on what looks a handy mark to open his account.
The Joseph Tuite trained colt shaped with plenty of promise in three maiden runs, most notably when staying on nicely to finish an eight length fifth of 12 to the now 107-rated Tashaar over 1m at Haydock.
The second, third, and fourth home have all come out and won since, and that gives the form a strong looks in the context of this class 5 contest.
It makes Pike Corner Cross look potentially well-treated off a mark of just 69, and although not at his best last time out when sixth of handicap debut at Windsor the son of Cape Cross got badly hampered and looks worth another chance to build on previous promise.
