Latest Coral sponsored Racing Post podcast reviews the weekend action

In the latest edition of the Racing Post podcast “Postcast”, proudly sponsored by Coral, our very own Simon Clare joins Alistair Down, Lee Mottershead and Bruce Millington to reflect on a fascinating couple of days at Newmarket and look forward to QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot.

The panel discuss the devastating performances of the Aidan O’Brien trained pair Air Force Blue and Minding in winning the Dewhurst Stakes and Fillies Mile respectively.

Air Force Blue was hailed by O’Brien as the best juvenile he has ever trained following his runaway success, and is now Coral’s even-money favourite for next year’s 2000 Guineas.

Minding’s awesome display of speed and power was enough to get Mottershead’s vote as the performance of the meeting, and she is currently Coral’s 4/1 favourite for next year’s 1000 Guineas ahead of stable companion Ballydoyle (7/1).

The team also go through the big races on Ascot’s stellar Champion’s Day card on Saturday, October 17th, and question whether dual Guineas winner Gleneagles will be allowed to take his chance in the Queen Eilzabeth II Stakes having missed some high profile engagements on account of soft ground.

Three-year-old Gleneagles is Coral’s 7/4 second favourite for the Group 1 contest, with brilliant French five-year-old Solow the market leader on 11/8.

Jacks Hobbs is 5/4 with Coral for the Champion Stakes, and whilst the panel believe he is a worthy favourite there is a French raider in the field that Mottershead believes could spring a bit of a surprise.
