Lingfield Classic Trials preview (14.20, 14.55)
First up is Wedding Vow (14.20), who represents the all-conquering stable of Aidan O’Brien, and is currently a 25/1 with Coral in the ante post betting for the Investec Oaks at Epsom on Friday, June 5th.
The filly is yet to win in three starts, but has progressed with each outing and put up a smart performance last time out when chasing home Legatissimo in a Listed 1m 1f contest at Gowran Park.
Although no match for the easy 3 3/4 length winner, Wedding Vow Stuck to the task well and the pair pulled nine lengths clear of the third home.
Legatissimo has since gone on to land the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in terrific style to give the form a rock solid look in the context of this contest.
Given the way Wedding Vow kept on all the way to the line, the step up to 1m 3f this afternoon looks sure to suit and another plus is that she has form with cut in the ground.
The beautifully bred daughter of Galileo also has the services of Ryan Moore in the saddle, and a repeat of Wedding Vow’s last run is going to make her very hard to beat.
Christophermarlowe faces just four rivals in the Derby Trial (14.55) and looks a cut above.
The John Gosden-trained colt is unbeaten in three starts, and looked potentially top class in the last of those when romping to a four length success in the Investec Derby Trial at Epsom.
Christophermarlowe travelled strongly throughout, and after being produced to take up the running two from home by Frankie Dettori stretched impressively clear to win with tons in hand.
That facile success earned the son of Tapit an official rating of 105, and that gives him 10lb and upwards in hand on today’s rivals.
It suggests that Christopermarlowe faces a straight forward task to complete the four-timer, and he is currently 12/1 with Coral for the Investec Derby at Epsom, on Saturday, June 6th.
