Lingfield Preview: Bint can get back on winning trail
Bint Dandy has built up a solid profile and can take advantage of an ease in grade to notch another success in the 1m handicap at Lingfield today (3.20).
The filly won at the second time of asking when trained in Ireland by Paul Deegan and has shown progressive form since joining Chris Dwyer.
The four-year-old has won two of her last five starts, with the last of those successes coming in a class 3 contest over 7f at this venue off a mark of 74.
Bint Dandy has since gone on to finish a highly creditable 2 3/4 length fourth to the ultra-progressive Don’t Be in a class 2 contest off 77, again at this track, and now gets into this lower grade class 4 affair off the same mark.
That gives the daughter of Dandy Man major claims from a handicapping perspective, and the step up to a mile will hold no fears as Bint Dandy was successful over it in Ireland.
In the 1m 2f handicap that opens proceedings (1.45), Apache Glory looks weighted to go well.
The mare is a course and distance winner whose last success came on the turf at Beverley in April 2013 off a mark of 67.
The six-year-old has since run some solid races to finish in the frame, including over course and distance last January when beaten a short-head off a mark of 74.
Apache Glory is now able to race off just 65, and comes into the contest on the back of two solid efforts which suggest she is ready to cash-in on her falling mark.
Plover has also dropped markedly in the weights and can go well at a big price in the 1m 2f handicap (4.20) now partnered by Jim Crowley for the first time.
The mare looked a smart prospect when bolting up by eight lengths at Kempton on her second start for Sir Michael Stoute back in June 2013, and was allotted an initial handicap mark of 88 on the back of that effort.
The five-year-old has since not progressed as expected and failed to trouble the judge in 14 starts, but is now able to race off a career-low mark of 55 as a result.
That gives Plover a big shout at the weights, and the daughter of Oasis Dream has shaped nicely in her last two runs under a 7lb claimer and could well take another step forward now getting the professional services of Crowley in the saddle.
