Bet of the day: Perfect Cracker worth having

Our best bet of Monday goes at Wolverhampton

There’s no lack of betting action for punters to sink their teeth into at Coral this afternoon, with matches going ahead in the Australian Open as well as horse racing and football, both today and in those all-important outright markets.

Here at Coral we have sifted through the best of them to return with our views on how you can start the week off on the winning foot. Read on for our best bet of Monday…

Horse Racing - Wolverhampton Racecourse

Wolverhampton provides a fantastic day of racing

Monday bet looks a cracker

Our focus turns to the all-weather card at Wolverhampton where an action-packed eight races gets underway at 1.50pm with an intriguing 10-runner handicap. We are going to keep our powder dry, having little more than an interest, until our bet of the day lines-up in the 2.55pm one-mile handicap.

With nine-runners currently expected to post, the one we are hot on is the Clive Cox saddled Perfect Cracker. The highly-experienced nine-year-old gelding has proven his worth in this sphere before, winning over course and distance in the past, and was last seen threatening a return to the winner’s enclosure when finishing behind Forceful Appeal by 3/4 of a length on Boxing Day around here.

Adam Kirby is back on board Totally Committed at Leicester today.

Working relationship

Jockey Ryan Tate did the steering on that occasion but, today we see Adam Kirby return to take charge and that must go down as a positive as the two appear to have a fine understanding, winning together almost exactly a year ago against this backdrop.

It has been a while since we’ve seen the selection get home in front but that doesn’t worry me too much as he appears to have been very well treated today and has been given every chance by the handicapper to go and prove his worth.

The current betting has this down as a straight shoot-out between Mythical Madness and Dutch Uncle, but there are question marks over both and, with Perfect Cracker floating around at a handy price, we take our chances. Each-way players could also have an interest at the current odds.
