Newmarket tips for Saturday: Ervedya to sparkle in Sun Chariot Stakes

David Metcalf | September 30, 2016

French raider Ervedya can gallop to glory in Sun Chariot Stakes

Ervedya has some top class for to her name and can get the better of a mouthwatering clash with Alice Springs to land the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket (16.00).

Trained in France by Jean-Claude Rouget, the four-year-old has won seven of her 13 starts and beat Found by a neck in last year’s running of the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Ervedya showed a smart turn of foot to get the better of the Aidan O’Brien trained filly, and that form reads extremely well in the context of this contest.

The daughter of Siyouni also ran well when runner-up on return to action in a Group 2 at Saint-cloud when keeping on from well off the pace under tender handling to be beaten 3 1/2 length by Vadamos.

She was then far from disgraced when fifth to brilliant American mare Tepin in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Ervedya was then given a break and ran an eye-catching race when staying on from well off the pace to finish a never nearer 2 1/4 length third to Ribchester in a Group 1 at Deauville.

That should have blow away the cobwebs and put her spot on for this and with cheekpieces fitted for the first time Ervedya looks decent value to get back to winning ways.

Haggle handicapped to strike

Haggle has shaped really well in two starts this season and can cash-in on what looks a handy mark to land the 1m 2f handicap (15.25).

The Luca Cumani trained filly shaped with bags of promise on debut when third to the classy Ballydoyle in a 10-runner maiden over 7f at this venue, a race in which the now 115-rated Nemoralia finished runner-up.

Haggle duly built on that effort to land a 1m contest at this track and was far from disgraced in her final start of 2015 when third in a Listed contest at headquarters.

The daughter of Pivotal looked the type who would do even better as a three-year-old and that view was confirmed when she finished an excellent second at Goodwood following 269 days on the sidelines.

Luca Cumani will hope to have a winner in Haggle.

Haggle also ran far better than the finishing position suggests last time out when given a poor ride and far too much to do before staying on nicely to be beaten just over two lengths into sixth behind Sacred Art at Sandown.

Judged on those efforts, and especially her run behind Ballyodyle, a mark of 95 looks very exploitable.

Seduce Me looks tasty in Tattersalls October Auction Stakes

In the valuable 6f Tattersalls October Auction Stakes (16.35), Seduce Me looks capable of going well at a big price.

The Ontoawinner owned filly built on a promising debut to impressively land a Ripon maiden by seven lengths but then found Group 3 company too hot when 10th of 12 to Fair Eva at Ascot.

Seduce Me has since finished a solid third in a conditions’ contest at Ripon and was far from disgraced last time out when a 5 1/4 length eighth to Glitter Girl in a hot nursery at Doncaster.

The winner has gone on to finish third in a Group 2 and the fifth home Rosabelle has since scored in good style at Chester.

That gives the form a solid look and makes Seduce Me a player in this, especially if the fitting of the first the cheekpieces have the desired effect.
