Nottingham preview: Frenzified weighted to follow-up

Frenzified scored in good style last time out and looks weighted to follow-up on handicap debut in the 1m 2f contest on today’s seven-race card at Nottingham (16.45).

The Luca Cumani-trained filly shaped well in a trio of maidens before opening her account in a conditions’ contest at Salisbury where she was value for more than the one length winning margin.

After tracking the leaders, Frenzified got slightly outpaced three from home before rallying strongly under a hands and heels ride to get up close home and be well on top at the finish.

It was an effort which suggested there was plenty more to come from the well-bred daughter of Yeats, and the form of the race has a strong look to it.

The fourth and fifth home have both come out and won since off ratings of 66 and 70, and that suggests that Frenzified could well have got in lightly off an opening mark of just 72.

Another plus is that the stable is in good form, and Cumani does particularly well with fillies.

They tend to progress with each outing, and Frenzified looks a typical improver from the yard who needs keeping firmly on side.

Trainer Karl Burke has a tremendous record with his runners at the track, and Yeeoow can further enhance it with victory in the In the 6f handicap (15.40).

The Spigot Lodge handler has a strike rate of just under 43 per cent at the venue in the past 12 months (six winners and three placed from 14 runners), and in Yeeoow has a sprinter at the top of his game who scored with a bit in hand last time out.

The six-year-old ran on strongly to beat Signore Piccolo by a neck in a class 4 affair at Pontefract after not getting the clearest of runs and, although now 3lb higher in the weights in this better grade class 3 affair, remains well-treated on the pick of his form.

Prior to that success Yeeoow had finished a cracking a cracking 2 1/4 length third of 11 to Out Do in a class 2 contest at York off 84, and he was successful at Ascot back in May 2013 off a mark of 90.

Yeeoow also has the services of talented young jockey Joey Haynes who is good value for his claim, and taking it into account the son of Holy Roman Emperor is running off 84 and effectively a winner without a penalty in what doesn’t look the strongest of contests.
