Punchestown Festival: Friday’s tips

David Metcalf | April 28, 2016

It’s time to get Dressedtothenines

Dressedtothenines caught the eye last time out and looks decent value in the Glencarraig Lady Mares Handicap Chase on the penultimate day of the Punchestown Festival (16.55).

The Eddie Harty trained nine-year-old has some very useful form to her name over hurdles back in 2013, finishing a 6 1/2 length runner-up to the awesome Annie Power before going on to land a hat-trick of successes.

In the last of those, Dressedtothenines landed a Grade 2 contest at Fairyhouse off an official rating of 137.

Promising start to chasing career

The mare went on to be placed in her first two starts over fences, including when runner-up to subsequent Gold Cup winner Don Cossack, before opening her account over the obstacles in a Grade 3 contest at Cork.

Dressedtothenines

Dressedtothenines was then on the sidelines for 735 days, and struggled in her first two starts this season.

However, there was much more to like about the daughter of Oscar’s recent effort when fourth to Emily Gray in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse.

Although eventually beaten 16 3/4 lengths, Dressedtothenines travelled well until making a mistake three out and was not knocked about thereafter.

Better off at the weights

She now meets the winner on 17lb better terms, and Dressedtothenines looks potentially very well-treated off a mark of 125 based on her past hurdles form.

Connections also appear to have laid Dressedtothenines out for this race, and now reach for the blinkers for the first time.

If the fitting of the headgear has the desired effect she looks weighted to run a huge race off just 10st 1lb in the hands of top jockey Mark Walsh.
