Sedgefield Preview: Light The City ready to shine

Light The City has a good record at Sedgefield and looks weighted to further enhance it with victory in the 2m 1f handicap hurdle there today (2.00).

The Ruth Carr trained gelding has won two of his three starts over course and distance, with the last of those successes coming off a mark of 104.

The eight-year-old kept on strongly to account for Sam Lord by 3 1/2 lengths, and went on to finish a fair third at Newcastle off a revised rating of 110.

Light The City has so far failed to finish in the frame in four starts this season, but his mark has fallen to 101 as a result.

That is 3lb lower than whne last successful and gives the son of Fantastic Light major claims from a handicapping perspective.

Light The City also comes into the contest on the back of his best effort so far this campaign when fourth of nine to Emral Silk at Catterick, and looks weighted to take all the beating if building on that run now returned to a venue which clearly suits.

Getabuzz is another who runs the track well and is potentially thrown-in at the weights on the pick of his form in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle (3.40).

The Tim Easterby trained gelding scored three times last season, including twice over course and distance.

In the last of those successes Getabuzz from off the pace before keeping on strongly to beat Hit The Top by 4 1/2 lengths off a mark of 125 in a class 2 novices’ handicap hurdle.

The seven-year-old was put up 7lb to 132 for that success, and has subsequently failed to trouble the judge in seven starts.

However, the handicapper has been quick to cut Gettabuzz plenty of slack and he now gets into this lower grade class 4 affair off a rating of just 118.

That is 7lb lower than when last successful, and it also looks significant that connections are now refitting the son of Beat Hollow with the blinkers.

Getabuzz wore when last victorious, and they are now back on for the first time this season.
