My Tent Or Yours drifts for Champion Hurdle after setback

My Tent Or Yours is out to 5/1 (from 7/2) with Coral for the Champion Hurdle after trainer Nicky Henderson revealed he has suffered a puncture wound on the sole of a hoof.

The Seven Barrows handler is still pretty confident that he will be able to contest the feature race on the opening day of the Festival on Tuesday, March 11th.

Henderson said: “My Tent Or Yours has a little puncture wound in his near-fore sole. We are looking at it and are pretty confident it won’t affect his participation.

“We are designing a shoe to cover it but also have the facility to swim him if necessary. Any other day, with any other horse, this would not be significant.

“Nobody can guarantee anything but I am seriously hopeful everything will be all right. We’ve got all the experts here and it’s just a matter of what we do.”

My Tent Or Yours has already claimed two Grade 1 races this season, landing the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle before following up in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day, when he beat fellow Cheltenham runner The New One.

The JP McManus-owned seven-year-old won a jumpers’ bumper at Kempton last month on his final Festival prep run, after which he chosen by jockey Tony McCoy over his owner’s other runner Jezki.

However, with doubts now surrounding My Tent Or Yours’ participation, there has been renewed support for the McManus “second string”.

Jessie Harrington’s six-year-old’s odds have been cut into 8/1 (from 10s) by Coral for the Champion Hurdle as punters latch onto the possibility that he will be partnered by 18-times champion McCoy if My Tent Or Yours fails to recover in time.
